Don’t you just want to go back to the good old days? Days, when diner coffee tastes a little bit better, club nights consist of disco balls and jukeboxes and the local refreshment center has one of those old pinball machines that really summon your competitive spirit. I would give anything to go back to those times – back when life was really simple but a whole lot of fun.

Don’t get me wrong, okay? As much as I love living in today’s time, there’s also something about the past that really appeals to me. Maybe this feeling is just brought on by watching one too many old flicks but really, nothing would make me happier than being able to relive the past. Back then, the world seemed to glow in all sorts of colors; it seemed like a really happy place with lots of adventures. Back then, there were no screens to enslave people; kids would actually go out to have fun and not stay put at home and stare into the computer screen’s the whole day.
I guess, in a way, people lived a much healthier life several decades back. Sure, today’s world is certainly convenient but is it really the kind of world we want?
I don’t know about you but my soul is certainly tired of having to scroll down my newsfeed to check out other people’s lives all the time. I want to live mine to the best of my abilities. I want to experience what it’s like to play and not have a reset button. I want to play games with no checkpoints again. I want to play the kind of game that when you lose, you have to go back to square one and repeat the whole thing again.
This may be the reason why kids of today have far less patience than us. Even if they’re just games they can teach you a lot about life too, after all.
Today’s kids will never know the agony of what it’s like to lose just when you’re about to break that high score. They will never know how frustrating it is when Mario’s three lives run out when you’re on level 15 and you have to go back to level 1 and start the journey all over again.
They will never know the bliss of finally accomplishing all levels and getting your name on the top players’ list. After all, now, you can redeem a level through in-app purchases. You can get cheat sheets of the internet to play easier. The kids of today will never know the hardships of an arcade gamer.
So, here’s an idea: Why don’t you give them a little taste of the life of a 90’s kid?
