This week I thought I would bring your attention to the inaugural Gammify 2013 Gamification World Championships, which is held on October 13th in San Fransisco.
Gamification continues to be big over the past couple of months on our website and this event is definitely worthy of your attention. The Championships are an advanced, professional contest that celebrates world standard gamification among students and professionals.
Three world-renowned judges will pick the winner: Mr. Mario Herger, Ms. Marigo Raftopoulos and Mr. Yu-Kai Chou and the winner will get $25,000.
Skilled, advanced professionals and students from varied backgrounds, across the world will compete in two online rounds, beginning on September 1st 2013. Both rounds assess competitors’ comprehension of gamification strategy, mechanics and experience under intense time-pressures. Questions will test skills and expertise from serious games design practices to enterprise gamification and will take the kind of multiple-choice questions and case studies.
Example Round 1 questions may include: prizing, point scoring, creating rules of play, instant rewards, virtual money, and generating paths to customer mastery and autonomy. Participants will also need familiarity with individual behaviors like creativity, self-expression, social recognition, logic, calculations, accomplishment and possession.
The top 16 finalists will be flown to the event to be judged by the world-leading judges cited above in addition to the largest patrons in international Gamification and Games Design. There’ll also be an exhibition Group challenge to help a major global non-for-profit institution. The winner will get $25,000, second place prize is $10,000, third place prize is $5,000 and there’s also a ‘Most Innovative’ Award.
